Syracuse Strong Dominate Wolverines

by Mark Rowlands

Syracuse, NY-The Syracuse Strong had their strongest showing of the season so far on this past Saturday, June 19th against the New York Wolverines.  The Strong won 53-0, dominating the Wolverines on both sides of the field.

The player of the game was Strong star Running Back, Rashad Burns, who had 151 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns, while slipping away from virtually everyone who tried to tackle him.

On what turned out to be a rainy night at Sunnycrest football field, touchdowns were certainly not in short supply for the Strong.  Starting quarterback Zavon Watkins threw and rushed for two touchdowns a piece, and Ishmiek “Loodie” Allen ran the second half opening kickoff back for a 90 yard touchdown to get the half started.

“Shoeless” Zach Grulich finished off 3 scores with an extra point, and Watkins passed for a 2 point conversion late in the 4th brought the Strong up to 53 points on the night.

I talked to Rashad Burns, who said “Our coach called some good calls, and I found some holes.  Our line definitely did a great job blocking too, so shout out to the line.”  Burns also wanted the opportunity to get his 4th score, and told me to expect “Maybe five” touchdowns in the future.
