Darrien Fields Champion For Life

by GDFL Media

WPA Wildcatz quarterback #4 Darrien Fields, who helped orchestrate the game winning drive in the semi finals vs the Detroit Seminoles, was unable to play in the championship game vs Canton because he was playing in another championship. A championship of life!

A True Champion …For most athletes playing the game is important. And for those fortunate enough to make it to a championship it’s a dream come true. But one young man proved that life is bigger than any game played.

On September 7, 2019,  incoming GDFL member the Western Pennsylvania Wildcatz faced the Canton Pitbulls in the 2019 PAFL Championship game. Both organizations strapped on their helmets to see who would be the last team standing. Who would walk away Champion?

On this day the Wildcatz proved to be the better team overcoming a 21-0 deficit to come out victorious in double overtime.

But there was an even bigger victory not played on the field. A victory in life, a true champion in the young man named Darrien Fields who unselfishly sacrificed playing in the big game to give his uncle a new lease on life by donating a kidney.

"This young man exemplifies the true heart of a Champion"- GDFL COO Tracey Hardney-Scott

"The GDFL proudly salutes Darrien Fields. He is a hero and a Champion for Life"-GDFL CEO Charles Thompson.
