GDFL Expands with Inaugural Spring Season in 2026
Memphis, Tennessee – The Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) is proud to announce that it will officially kick off its inaugural Spring season in March 2026, creating even more opportunities for teams and athletes to compete at a high level.
The traditional Summer season will continue as scheduled in June 2026, ensuring year-round action for fans and organizations alike.
“Several teams have expressed strong interest in the Spring session, and after careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to move forward,” said GDFL Commissioner Charles Thompson. “This expansion gives organizations more flexibility while creating additional opportunities for players to showcase their talents.”
Some organizations have already committed to competing in both the Spring and Summer seasons, while others will use the Spring as their primary platform. Recruiting across the league remains strong, and this dual-season structure provides an enhanced pathway for player development, exposure, and advancement.
“Although the Spring session offers another option for teams, our Summer session remains the foundation of the GDFL,” Commissioner Thompson added. “We welcome the growth and are excited about what 2026 will bring.”
The league will begin announcing its official Spring and Summer franchises in the coming weeks.
