XTREME CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW

by Charles Thompson

After all of the hype surrounding many of the wild-card teams when the GDFL playoffs started, we're down to the top two seeds in each conference.

The battle-tested Georgia Crush will visit the defensive-minded Chattanooga Eagles on Saturday, and the versatile Crescent City Kings will enter the territory of the #1 Team in Minor League Professional Football,The Oklahoma Thunder. Both matchups promise plenty of excitement.

Let's examine the Crush & Eagles matchup and pick which squad will advance to Gridiron Bowl 8:

Conference Championship Predictions

XTREME: No. 3 GEORGIA CRUSH at No. 1 CHATTANOOGA EAGLES

Both the Crush and Eagles should be happy they got out of the divisional round. In the last minutes of the 4th Quarter,The Xtreme Conference Championship is up for grabs and the contenders are hungry and ready for an intense battle.  The Georgia Crush and the Chattanooga Eagles are set to engage in a four-quarter winner-takes-all battle with a spot in Gridiron Bowl 8 on the line.

For the Crush, this is a repeat of last season, a journey to the conference championship will not satisfy their championship lust. The goal for 2017 is clear, overcome the obstacles and dash to glory. This team has all the requisite tools for a championship run. This could be it! For the Eagles, they have been the best team in their conference, all season. If they can muster one more victory, they will earn the opportunity to represent Tennessee in a GDFL championship game.

The Eagles have soared through the regular season and rose above the Rockets last week. This week, they can’t get Crushed! These teams met in week 1 for an old-fashioned knock-out, drag-em-out brawl. The Eagles snatched victory then and with the home-field advantage, the odds favor them again. The Crush, have read this story before, will the ending be different this time. I say yes!

However, each team needs to be ready for the high-quality opponent it's about to play.

Both squads are potent on both sides of the ball and have trustworthy leaders starting at quarterback, even though Marcus Brooks had some rough moments against Alabama Sabers. For that reason, the X-factor of this year's Xtreme Championship Game could be Quarterback play.

Prediction: Crush win, 14-8
