Washington Warriors on the Warpath

by Gridiron Media

It was hot day in Washington as the Saber and Warriors battled it out. Both offenses started off slow going scoreless in the 1st quarter. With both QB throwing early interception’s  to the opposing defense.

The Warriors posted the first score in the 2nd with a short toss from QB Harry Peoples to WR Vika Young. After securing his second interception for the Warriors, CB Jr McMillan returned the ball to the into red zone where WR Dashun Salgado sealed the deal with another short TD catch.

The offense of the Sabers continued to falter all half. And with under a minute left the Warriors were able to drive down the field and score again. The legs of QB Peoples put the Warriors up 22-0 at the half.

After a few exchanges the Sabers defense came up big with another interception, this time from CB Devane. The offense finally showed life as WR Garner hauls in a TD pass. But the Warriors answer quickly with 2 consecutive scores of their own. A TD pass to LB Joseph Titialii and another one on the legs of QB Peoples bringing the games score to 36-6.

Sabers begin to mount a mini come back. A double pass from #17 to WR Andre Evans results in a TD. They then recover an onside kick and WR Anthony Chaney scores on a perfectly executed hook and ladder play to bring the score to 36-22.

But it was all too little too late as the Warriors finally put their foot down by returning the next onside attempt for a TD. Soon after QB Peoples connected with WR Eddie Salanoa to finally close the door on the sabers.

Final score 50-22

Warriors face the #2 West Sound Rebels July 9th and try to avenge their week 1 loss. Have a good 4th!
