Tri-City Outlaws hold off Memphis Blast 12-8

Memphis,Tennessee-Memphis Blast(3-2) came into the game with a lot of confidence. After shutting out the Mississippi Roadwarriors just over a week ago. #2 Nationally ranked Tri-City Outlaws(4-0) rolled into town looking to stay undefeated coming off an overtime win versus the Huntsville Rockets defeating them 6-0 in Clarksville, Tennessee.

“We knew this game was gonna be an absolute war, both defenses where looking to make a statement”, said Blast Assistant Head Coach Christopher Lewis. 

The Outlaws drew first blood, when they drove to the Blast 4 yard line the Blast defense stood tall for 3 plays and forcing a 4th and Goal from the 25, then the unthinkable happened the Blast D-line brought heavy pressure the Quarterback scrambled to his right and somehow found a wide open receiver streaking down the field for the score. On the following play Markerion Johnson would block the PAT Outlaws 6-0.

In the second quarter the Blast defense would continue to play lights out in spite of the critical error in the first quarter. Late in the second quarter the defense would force a fumble and Defensive Tackle Malik Hubbard would scoop and score from 15 yards out, the 2pt conversion failed. Halftime Blast 6-Outlaws 6

Both defenses made it very difficult for the offenses to move the ball in the third quarter and the score remained tied. 

4th quarter with under 5 minutes to play the Blast turnover on downs on there own 40 yard line, The Outlaws finally get some positive yards stringing together back to back first downs moving the ball to the one and getting the go ahead Touchdown. The Outlaws go for two points and fumble the football Defensive End Lamarckus Kelley scoops up the fumbled 2pt conversion and runs it back 97 yards. Score: Outlaws 12 Blast 8…The Blast get one last drive but come up short!

The Memphis Blast will host the Huntsville Rockets July 23rd while the Tri-Outlaws will host the Mississippi Roadwarriors!
