New commissioner brings military experience to disciplinarian post.

MEMPHIS,TENN- The Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) announced today the appointment of Bo Townsend as the new commissioner of the league. Townsend has a plethora of GDFL experience being a head coach for the Tri-City Outlaws since 2015. Townsend also started his own team, the Clarksville Rattlers which competed in two spring leagues. His military experience is what gives him the demeanor needed for his new role.

“Bo is no nonsense and respected across the country,” said GDFL president Charles Thompson. “He is a military man which makes his approach structured. We feel that this is essential in helping our brand to go to the next level.

Townsend’s main function will be keeping watch of player personnel, evaluating the structure of each team’s front office, making sure the uniform code is being followed, handling all conduct issues and implementing a code of sportsmanship. He came to Tennessee from Tallahassee, Florida., winning a championship with the St.Petersburg Sharks. His love for his players stands out.

“This is a huge position for me and I am appreciative to the league for my appointment,” said Townsend. “”I have enjoyed coaching for the most part. Now it is time to do bigger things. With the new teams coming in, we have to make sure that we are on the same page. I am ready to get started.”
