The Syracuse Strong Welcomes an Old Foe to the GDFL.

Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Strong and the Watertown Red & Black were wrapped up in a defensive battle to start what was the second GDFL league game for both teams.

Watertown struck early in the first quarter with touchdown run on an impressive scramble from the Red & Black’s Quarterback.

Watertown came prepared and ready for battle against the GDFL defending national champions. 

The first half was a battle until a block punt against Watertown by Syracuse Strong DB - DePaul Crowell put the Strong in perfect position on the Watertown 9 yard line.

That’s when Dewayne “Flash” Gordon punch it into the end zone, and Strong Kicker, Tom Stadnicki kicked the extra point giving the Strong a 7 - 6 lead with 24 seconds left in the first half.

The second half, once again was a different story. 

The Strong would fall short on its first possession in the second half and settled for 3 from Tom Stadnicki, increasing the Strong lead to 10 - 6.

The Syracuse Strong defense turned it up a notch. Watertown would put points on the broad once more with a field goal early in the third making the score 10 - 9 in favor of the Strong. It was all Syracuse after that.

The Strong would go on to score 21 unanswered points, including three additional extra points to close out the game in dominating fashion. The Syracuse Strong defeats the Watertown Red & Black by a score of 31 - 9.
