Silverbacks Crushed in Season Opener by Bulldogs, 41–6
Head Coach Tyson Takes Responsibility for Blowout Loss
Kansas City, Missouri-The St. Louis Silverbacks’ GDFL debut came to a brutal halt Saturday night as they were routed 41–6 by the Kansas City Bulldogs in Week 3 league play.
“We ran into a great team tonight, and we just didn’t play our best,” said head coach Perry Tyson. “I just don’t think we had a good enough plan as coaches tonight. I didn’t get our team prepared.”
From the opening whistle, the Bulldogs dominated. Kansas City poured in 35 unanswered points in the first half—28 of them in the second quarter alone—and sealed the blowout with a late fourth-quarter touchdown.
The Silverbacks, missing several key starters on both sides of the ball and dealing with a light practice week, never found rhythm on offense or defense. The team struggled to respond to the Bulldogs’ relentless pace and execution.
Despite the lopsided score, there were a few bright spots. Defensive back Cody Williams made a red zone interception and added a 95-yard kickoff return for the Silverbacks’ lone touchdown. The defense also tightened up in the second half, limiting further damage and holding Kansas City scoreless in the third quarter.
But the night belonged to Kansas City’s Rondo Johnson “Agent 0,” who delivered a monster performance with three rushing touchdowns, a 50-yard punt return score, and a fumble recovery in the end zone. #17 Jashawn Ellis closed out the scoring for the Bulldogs
The Silverbacks fall to 0–1 on the season and will look to regroup before their next matchup.
