Sabers take down Rockets
Birmingham, AL- The 2017 Alabama Sabers were 1-1 on the road before this game. The Sabers needed a statement road victory and they showed up big time taking down the undefeated #2 Huntsville Rockets 21-6.
It was a defensive battle from the start. The Sabers gave up an average 6.5 points per game; the defense for 2 weeks have not given up any points. The Sabers defense is led by LBs #15 Bennard Smith and #44 David Cash. "Our defense is a dominating factor while offense is catching their groove midseason averaging 24.5 points a game",stated Head Coach Dee Colvin.
The Sabers were led on offense by Carl Davis who threw a interception for 6 points to put the Rockets on the scoreboard first. The Sabers would respond with a 6 for 6 passing drive ending with an 18-yard passing touchdown from #4 Carl Davis to #3 Tony Rudolph. The Sabers would also convert the 2-Point Conversion going ahead 8-6. The defense for both teams showed up to play forcing coaches to make decisions joking for field position all night.

Other Standout Players:
#11 Troy Henderson played a significant role on defense for the Sabers ending his night with 2 interceptions, a force fumble and multiple tackles on special teams and defense.
#14 Marqueze O’Neal had a few missed opportunities at cornerback miss judging a few bad passes; however, with the game on the line he delivers the dagger. He ripped the ball on kickoff from the returner and return it himself for a touchdown putting the Sabers up after just scoring 15-6 and now going up 21-6 late in the 4th Quarter.
