by GDFL Media

Tacoma Washington-The GDFL game of the week showcased the #6 seed Tacoma Sabers vs the #4 West Sound Rebels. The Tacoma Sabers came into the game off a rainy win from the Grit City Knights two weeks ago.

The game started off with fireworks by both teams. The Rebels Gun Slinger JT Taase connected with speedster Cory Klingberg for a 81 yard Touchdown.

The Rebels scored early in the first and the following kickoff Defensive Back #13 Isaiah Devane took back the kick return for a touchdown.. The Sabers Converted a 2 point conversion with a pass from QB #10 Gavin Vradenburg to WR #12 Joey Peterson. And that’s where the fireworks ended.

The Rebels would go on to score 40 points unanswered. Making the final score 46-8 in favor of the home Rebels. The Sabers QB Gavin Vradenburg would suffer a torn MCL during the contest. His return to action going forward is questionable.

Rebels QB would finish with 311 passing yards, 5 passing touchdowns, while adding 63 rushing yards on 7 attempts. The thunder & lightning combo of running backs Bowie & Grier added another 124 rushing yards combined and Bowie had 1 touchdown.

The WR core would also stay hot with Cory Klingberg hauling in all 4 of his targets for 136 yards receiving, and 3 receiving touchdowns. Klingberg would add 1 more touchdown on a fumble recovery in the end zone.

Kofi Goseer Jr would add 5 receptions for 64 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. Overall the Rebels amassed over 500 yards of offense.

The stingy Rebels defense was at it again early and often. Ryan Blowers would record 2.5 sacks on the day Isley Stoneham would add  1.5 more and the rest of the defense would add 2 more.

The secondary was also busy again hauling in another 2 interceptions made by Braxton Seaich and Michael Shannon. This defense is looking very solid through the first 3 games.

The Sabers fought through out the game and experienced some key injuries finishing the game that they will need to fill moving forward..

Next up for the Rebels, they will host the Grit City Knights at Stadium High School, 6/25 at 6 pm. While the Tacoma Sabers will travel to Bonney Lake to face the Washington Warriors.
