Rebels take down Warriors

by Gridiron Media

Washington-This Inaugural contest between the Washington Warriors and West Sound Rebels was the exact dog fight it promised to be. It was a back-and-forth battle for four quarters.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 10-0 lead after getting a safety and then scoring a TD followed by a successful 2-point conversion.

The Rebels stormed back to take a 12-10 half time lead. Nate Mace of the Rebels was forced out of the game with a severe injury early in the first quarter. Jacob Taase took the reigns for the Rebels and threw for 4 Touchdown passes.

The Warriors took advantage of several Rebels mistakes, a lot having to do with the rainy conditions. Scoring 2 Touchdowns after Rebels miscues. They later forced a fumble on a punt return which resulted in another safety.

It was 18-18 with 7 minutes left in the forth quarter when Taase hooked up with Demetrius Rackley on a red zone touchdown. 4 minutes later Taase hooked up on another long pass to Kofi Goseer Jr.

The final score was 32-18 Rebels, but this game was much closer than that. I’m sure we can expect another dog fight out of both teams when they meet for a second time July 9th @ The Rebels home field.

As for now the Rebels will try to heal up with a bye week, and The Warriors will host the Everett Royals in week 2. It looks like we can expect great things out of this Western Impact North Division of the GDFL.
