Playoffs:Rockets deny Outlaws
Clarksville,Tn- The #2 National ranked undefeated Southern Xtreme Division Champions the Tri-City Outlaws (8-1)outstanding 2022 season ended short of its desired destination as they fell 16-7 to the #10 Nationally ranked Huntsville Rockets (8-2) in the 2nd round of the GDFL National playoffs Saturday.
The game was an absolute defensive war throughout, the first quarter which ended 0-0 as both offenses struggled to gain any real advantage. In the second quarter things would get a little more interesting as Huntsville would get the first score of the game.
Huntsville Rockets defensive end Thomas Sims sacked Outlaws Quarterback John Cooper Jr. in the end zone getting the first points on the board early in the 2nd quarter score 2-0.
The Outlaws would get a much needed turnover, Defensive lineman 6-2 285 Accente Hill recovered a fumble and Rumbled 60 yards for the Outlaws Touchdown late in the 2nd quarter. The point after is good by (K) Abraham Morris.
With 3 mins left in 3rd quarter RB Jermaireous Chandeler took off on a 30 yard Scamper to put the Rockets in front.The Rockets converted on the 2 point conversion taking the lead 10-7
In the 4th with 2:50 seconds the Rockets closed the game out scoring on a 45 yard Touchdown pass from QB Rashad Louie to Receiver Darren Clark making the final score 16-7. “We make no excuses, we had opportunities to take advantage of their mistakes but failed to capitalize in critical situations”, said team Owner Derrick Bracy.
The Huntsville Rockets now advance to the GDFL semi-Finals and will face the Syracuse Strong in New York. This Saturday August 27th!
