Pitbulls Overwhelm Spartans

St.Peters,MO-The Missouri Valley Pitbulls Pro Football team did pretty much everything it wanted to do on both offense and defense on its way to an eventual 45-0 win against Gateway Spartans on Saturday May 20th. In a nearly flawless performance, the Pitbulls had 14 first downs and 1 penalty, and the offense scored at least 2 touchdowns in each quarter with the exception of the 3rd quarter which they scored once.

The Pitbulls got things started on their opening drive, when Chuck Banks ran in from 25 yards out for a Pitbull Touchdown. On their very next drive two plays later when Quarterback Arlando Bailey hooked up with Ronnie Bertelsmeyer and made it a 13-0 game on a 21-yard touchdown reception. From there the Pitbulls didn't let up, adding to their lead for the 45-0 final score.

On the evening, Missouri Valley Pitbulls rolled up 299 yards of total offense; while keeping the Spartans to just 84 total yards.

With the loss, the Spartans slip to 0-2 on the season and 0-1 in the Impact North Division; while the Pitbulls improved to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Quarterback Arlando Bailey played the entire game for the most part with both back-up quarterbacks, seeing minimal action. Bailey went 5-9 for 102 yards and 2 TDs. Chuck Banks led all rushers with 90 yards and 1 TD, and Ronnie Bertelsmeyer led all receivers with 4 yards on 2 catches and a Touchdown.

On defense, DeMonte Kendricks led the way with four tackles,1 sack, and 1 tackle for loss both Corey Jenkins and Tank Stanburry had Fumble recoveries for Touchdowns Jenkins went for 44 yards and Stanburry went for 33 yards for the scoop and score.

Gateway Spartans will be back in action next Saturday, June 3, as they look to spoil St. Louis Bulldogs first over the road game and get into the win column for the first time this season. Game time is set for 7:00pm CST from O’Fallon, IL. The Pitbulls will travel to Western Kentucky to take on the Thoroughbreds.
