Outlaws Defeat Xtra 47-0 in GDFL Season Opener
Oklahoma City,OK-For the first time in GDFL history, two first year member teams was scheduled to open the GDFL annual kick-off classic 2018 season this year featured the Arkansas Xtra of Little Rock, Arkansas and the Oklahoma Outlaws of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma both first year members in the Gridiron Developmental Football League with the only regular season game on tap this pass weekend. The 2018 Season is reason to celebrate, and that's exactly what we plan to do.

The Oklahoma Outlaws (1-0) opened their inaugural season with a win over the Arkansas Xtra (0-1), 47-0, Saturday night in front of their home crowd at Speegle Stadium. Outlaws Adidas McDonald, had two rushing touchdowns on his way to winning the Offensive Player of the Game award. Terrance Walker was named Defensive Player of the Game with six tackles,a fumble recovery for a 55 yard Touchdown.
The Outlaws offense was led by quarterback Cruz Samaniego, who tossed for 120 yards and one touchdown. His top target Kevin Rassaett, caught five passes from Samaniego, tallying for 78 yards and one touchdown.
“I was ecstatic with this being our first win of our Inaugural season,” said Miguel Potts, Head Coach of the Oklahoma Outlaws.“We were hyped as a team and to have our fans come out in the rain & cold for a first year organization and believe in our program is exciting and we are greatly appreciative of that.”
The Outlaws wasted no time going right down the field on their third possession. Adidas McDonald found the end-zone on a 25 yard scamper for this first touchdown of the night at the 6:46 mark of the first quarter.
The next Outlaws drive ended with a 43 yard field goal by David Goodson to end the 1st quarter.
On a crucial drive being down by only ten points midway through the second quarter, the Xtra turned the ball over that's when #99 Defensive Tackle Terrance Walker scored on a scoop and score and rumbled 55 yards for the Touchdown 17-0 Outlaws.
On the very next series the Outlaws capitalized with a hookup between Samaniego, and Rassaett for six, kick is good by David Goodson 24-0.With 2:34 before the half, the Outlaws recover a squib kick and drove the ball to the Arkansas Xtra 15 yard line that's when McDonald scored his second touchdown in the final seconds of the 2nd quarter, giving Oklahoma Outlaws a 31-0 lead at the half.
After a halftime the Outlaws took the ball despite moving the ball downfield, Arkansas forced a turnover on a Interception on the one yard line.The Xtra offense still not on track sputtered and two plays later the Outlaws forced a safety for another score to make it 33-0 at the 7:20 mark in the 3rd quarter.
After returning the free kickoff to 5 yard line, the Outlaws marched their way into the end zone, capping off their drive with a five-yard touchdown Pass from back-up quarterback Devin White to Alvery Braxton for a TD extra point by David Goodson good. 40-0 at the 4:20 mark of the third quarter.
Oklahoma Outlaws moved the ball down field for another score late in the fourth for another score, a 40 yard TD run by Anthony Thomas point after by David Goodson good, increasing their cushion to 47.
The Arkansas Xtra were unable to convert on their next possession, giving the ball back to Oklahoma. The Outlaws maintained control of the game until the final seconds ticked off the clock.
The final score of the game was 47-0.
“We still have a long way to go, it’s a journey. The real test will be next Saturday against the two-time defending champs instate division rival Oklahoma Thunder ,” said Potts.
