Lightning Strikes Twice: Texas Lightning Joins the GDFL
Dallas, Texas – Lightning has struck the Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) once again. Just last month, the South Carolina Lightning brought their energy to the league, and now the GDFL is proud to announce the arrival of the Texas Lightning for the 2026 season and beyond.
The addition of the Texas Lightning expands the league’s reach in the Lone Star State and opens the door for a brand-new division. Fans can now look forward to potential matchups with the Arkansas Punishers, Arkansas Kings, and the newly announced Dallas Icon—clashes that promise to deliver hard-hitting football and ignite regional rivalries for years to come.
The franchise will be led by Owner/Operator Wiz Drewry, who brings his vision, leadership, and commitment to excellence into the #1 developmental football league in the nation.
“The Texas Lightning are here to make an impact,” said Drewry. “We’re ready to represent Texas football and compete against the very best.”
With Texas football pride fueling their foundation, the Lightning join the GDFL’s growing roster of elite organizations, further cementing the league’s reputation as the premier platform for developmental football.
Welcome to the GDFL, Texas Lightning — where the storm is just beginning.
