by Gridiron Media

Antioch,Tn-As the (somewhat)warmer temperatures of spring slowly creep into view, football is always a hot issue in the Gridiron Developmental Football League. The Tennessee Lightning Bolts and the usual spring teams will once again be in action over the weekend, but the Lightning Bolts of Antioch,Tennessee will also play home to a professional developmental squad in the GDFL beginning  May,13, 2017.

The Tennessee Lightning Bolts have been hard at work over the last few months and will begin play in the #1 Pro Development League in the country, the Gridiron Developmental Football League.
Tennessee Lightning Bolts are very excited to rejoin the GDFL for the summer of 2017. Under the leadership of Head Coach AJ O'Neal Jr. His coaching staff are hard at work preparing to lead the Bolts to the prestigious GDFL National Championship Gridiron Bowl VIII.

The Bolts have a veteran lead defense, with  players like MLB Derek Dickerson.  Derek originally attended Middle Tennessee after his stellar high school career...he transferred to Tennessee Tech University listed as an outside linebacker, he can also play the defensive end position...figures into the "dime" package...he is a solid athlete and could emerge as a surprise once the season gets underway., Chris Dickerson SS looking forward to having an impact season he also played at Tennessee Tech and made the move from free safety to rover he adds depth to the secondary for the Bolts.

DT B.J. Taylor is a seasoned Pro Athlete who played professional football in Oslo, Norway for the Valerenga Trolls- - 2012-2013 he Broke Single Season Record for "Tackle for Loss" (Nashville Storm ) Played (2014) for the Nashville Venom Pro Indoor Football Team - Started 2 years at Defensive Line at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga  was team captain senior year.  Also was invited to play in the East Coast Bowl in Richmond, Va.

Quarterback sensation Cass Barnes another Tennessee Tech University product will lead the Lightning Bolts offense to the top of the GDFL.He is a great athlete, who has good overall size and strength...and has all the tools to be an effective quarterback. His experience allows him to utilize his strong arm and fast feet. While at TTU he was pressed into action at quarterback as a freshman and he gained important experience on the field in that key position....He is dangerous with the ball in his hands...he has great quickness...and the ability to make tacklers miss him...Barnes is a battle-tested player who enjoys having the ball in his hands and making plays as a playmaker for the Bolts.

The Lightning Bolts in 2013 and 2014 made the playoffs but didn't get pass the first round in both years but now they are back and more powerful in 2017. The Bolts also has added high powered receiver George Murray former University of Cincinnati star. He will stretch the defense and will cause match-up issues.  He has terrific skill set, with great hands, he can adjust to the ball, runs good routes and is strong after the catch.

The Lightning Bolts are building a strong roster, the real question is how does all this talent mesh in the GDFL and is it enough to win a National Championship?

The Lightning Bolts are ready to strike in the GDFL in 2017. #BOLTNATION
