Inglewood wins 8-6 in a tight Battle over the 6X Champion So. Cal Coyotes
PALM SPRINGS, California -On a day that saw 19 Blackhawk players not make it to the game for several different reasons, they used the, "Next Man Up" approach and squeaked out a 8-6 victory over a very good Coyotes team.
People seem to be surprised by the score but as the Arizona Roadrunners President Matt Mason said 2 weeks ago, "So. Cal is a damn good team". There is never an excuse for a performance whether good or bad, it's still 11 on 11 football.
The lone Blackhawk mistake was a miscommunication in coverage which got the Coyotes down to the Blackhawk 2 yard line. They punched it in two plays later for a 6-0 lead. After that Inglewood tightened down knocking out the Coyotes quarterback en route to 5 sacks and three interceptions on the day.
The defense was led by former Seattle Seahawks LB Kache Palacio who put on a show with 5 tackles, 3 sacks, 4 TFL, 1 INT, and 1 FF. His performance earned him the Gumbo Boys Player of the Week. In addition to Palacio's interception, both Brian Flowers Jr. and Travon Watson had interceptions on the day. DE Clinton Greenaway had two sacks as well as he met Palacio at the QB several times on the day. DB Shaine Boyle led all tacklers with 7 on the day as well as a fumble recovery return for 42 yards to end the game on a Devin Jones tackle and strip.
WR Terrell Bowie II had the lone Blackhawk touchdown on a 40 yard strike from QB Nolan Brammer. RB Jame Toland IV racked up another 100 yard game with 102 yards on 9 carries. His two game total for rushing yards is 292 yards.
