Huntsville Rockets Impact South Division Champs

Huntsville,AL-For the first time in Huntsville Rocket Organization History, they claim the Impact South Division Title. “We have been close in the last two seasons. We feel that during those seasons, we played some great competition in our division” says Head Coach Nick Benjamin. In the past two seasons, the Rockets have had no more than two losses on the season with one of those losses coming from the teams that would represent the Impact conference in the Gridiron Bowl. 

“I am proud of the guys in the way that we have persevered through a lot of adversity this year. We’ve lost some key players to injury, but the guys worked hard and filled the needed positions. The last three weeks, we have not been as deep as usual and that comes with having to change up game plans. The staff and players stepped up to the plate on that”. The Rockets clinched the division crown on Saturday night with a win over the Tri-City Outlaws to set up a round one match-up against the instate divisional foe, River City Pythons. This will be the third time that these two team have matched up this season. The Rockets took game 1 in Decatur with a 32-19 victory. 

The Pythons struck back taking a 28-21 win in Huntsville marking the first time in Organization history that the Pythons have defeated the Rockets. The Rockets were able to clinch the division with the split because of a higher margin of victory head to head. Round 3 is set to be a great match-up between two teams that have a lot of history. “This game means a lot to the community, the players, and both organizations. Both organizations have grown just this year alone and we are both looking to bring out both cities for Saturdays game”, says Benjamin. With Gridiron Bowl X being almost a month away, both the Rockets and Pythons look to continue on. One team will advance to the second round. Who will it be?
