GDFL Recap:Huntsville Rockets takeout Knoxville Grizzlies

by Charles Thompson

Huntsville,Alabama- The Huntsville Rockets looked to prove that they were the real deal and they did just that in Saturdays contest against the Knoxville Grizzlies. The Rocket offense started the game with a punt on the first drive, but quickly got on track scoring on 6 of the remaining 8 drives. Rashad Goode would lead the charge for the Rockets with 133 all purpose yards and three touchdowns. The Rocket defense played an amazing game as well pitching a shutout in the 42-0 victory.

“We are still putting the pieces together and there are still a lot of things that we need to work on. I will never overlook a win, but I know the level of football that my guys can play. We are just getting started.” Says Rocket Head Coach Nick Benjamin.

The Rockets looked at some different things on Offense and Defense. “We wanted to make sure that we saw how everybody played. We played a lot of guys in different positions to make sure that we would have things covered later in the season” says Benjamin. The Grizzlies showed sparks at times during the contest but couldn’t put it together. The Rockets were just too much for them to handle on Saturday night. “I think they have some good athletes and will get better as the season goes on. I am excited to see how the next contest will go” says Benjamin.

The Grizzlies will look to get back on track this week as they host the Tennessee Panthers. The Rockets have a bye week this week, but will face off with rival Tri-City Outlaws next week.
