Memphis,Tenn-The Gridiron Development Football League has decided to push the 2020 kickoff back by at least one month. The season was scheduled to kick-off May 2nd which is less then two weeks away most states are set to re-open on May 1st but due to the corona virus pandemic the league had been looking at possibly resuming play in mid-May. But June gives us more time to re-evaluate the current situation.

As each week comes all games for that week will be evaluated if not able to play. We will push games to back of the schedule we could do this up till week 5" stated league President Charles Thompson. "A shortened season is a possible response to the corona virus outbreak.

We almost certainly want to avoid shortening the season, but it may be the only option to finish the season without having games bleed into late December", the GDFL said in a statement.  “The health and safety of our players, fans, and the communities in which we play continues to be our top priority. We will continue to consult with health experts and local, state and federal officials as we assess future scheduling options.” stated League Commissioner Bo Townsend.
