GDFL Post Game:Capital City Seahawks overpower Baltimore Lightning
Washington,DC-What was anticipated as a heated rivalry turned into a one-sided affair for the Seahawks. The game began as a typical Seahawks vs. Lightning matchup, with both teams exchanging turnovers. However, things quickly took a turn, and the Seahawks dominated in all three phases of the game.
The Seahawks’ offense, led by All-Pro RB Desean Young, unleashed a brutal running attack that accounted for 200 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Rookie RB James Dudley broke through the Lightning defense with a 55-yard touchdown run for the game’s final score. All-Pro WR Daquan “Diesel” McCarter also contributed with a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown.
Despite the 28-0 victory, Head Coach James “Coach Crow” Crowell emphasized that the team could have been more efficient. Early interceptions and penalties may come back to haunt them later in the season.
On the defensive side, first-year DE Jarret Baker was outstanding, recording 3 sacks, 5 tackles, and 5 QB hurries. Earning him player of the game honors. The Seahawks secondary also made an impact, with interceptions from All-Pro safety Lawernce Miller and FS Chris Washington. LB Malik Brown added another interception. Not to be out done Seahawks All-Pro DT Stedman Washington controlled the ground game only allowing 10 yards rushing on the day.
Assistant HC Victor Taylor expressed pride in the defense but acknowledged that there’s still room for improvement. Next up, the Seahawks face the East Coast Blue Devils in cross-division action. The home opener promises excitement, scheduled for June 8th at 6:30 PM at Barry Farms Rec." 🏈
