GDFL GAME RECAP:Buffalo Stampede Shock Capital City Seahawks

Buffalo, New York- In week six of the 2024 GDFL season the #7 ranked Buffalo Stampede took on the #3 ranked Capital City Seahawks. The Stampede was looking to spoil the homecoming of Head Coach James Crowell who stated that he spent time in Buffalo as a teen. In the end the Stampede were able to achieve their goal and defeated the Seahawks in a hard-fought game that went down to the last play of the game 16 to 8.

The Stampede opened the game with a 42yard touchdown pass from #2 Edward Bishop to #12 Kendrick Benson, the play was capped off by a 2pt conversion run by Bishop. The Seahawks were able to match the score by the Stampede with a touchdown pass from #1 Daquan McCarter to #17 Bryan Brooks followed up by a 2pt conversion by McCarter. Making the score 8 to 8 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter the Stampede were able to retake the lead after a 5yard Touchdown run by #0 Dajuan McCullough followed up by a 2pt conversion completion to Benson from Bishop. This score gave the Stampede a 16 to 8 lead at halftime.

Both teams’ defensive unit played tough in the second half of the game. Neither team was able to score. The Seahawks had a chance to tie up the ball game late in the fourth quarter, but the pass fell short of its attended receiver as time expired giving the Stampede the victory 16 to 8.
