MEMPHIS, TN – Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) Chairman, Charles Thompson has agreed in principle to bring a new franchise to West Memphis, Arkansas. The offseason is often a time of expansion and reformation. This offseason has been no different as GDFL leadership continues to search for quality franchises to bolster the brand.

The newly formed Arkansas Nightmare are scheduled to begin play during the 2017 season. Former NFL Fullback, Charles Stackhouse (New York Giants) is spearheading the Arkansas venture. “Stackhouse brings a wealth of experience to the developmental level and the GDFL is glad to have him and his franchise,” said Devin Richardson, GDFL Commissioner.

Arkansas is home to the Arkansas Gators, of the GDFL, who reside only a few miles to the north in Marked Tree, AR. The close proximity will form a natural rivalry between the two Arkansas teams and the fans will be the ultimate benefactors.

The GDFL is proud to present and welcome the Arkansas Nightmare to the GDFL family. The “One Direction” principles set forth by the league in 2016 are the foundation upon which the league stands. The Nightmare have made the commitment to reach higher and farther, by joining one of the very best developmental leagues in America.
