Game Recap:Stampede run down Colonials

Rochester New York-Today the Buffalo Stampede traveled to the Charlotte Colonials in a rematch of the week one contest. The Stampede opened the scoring on their first drive of the second quarter with a 70-yard run by RB Dajean McCullough. 

After a quick 4 and out by the Colonials, WR Kendrick Benson returned a punt for 65 yards and a touchdown, giving the Stampede a 12-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Benson finished off the scoring in the 1st half with a 5-yard touchdown reception from QB Justin Goldsmith #2 making the halftime score 18-0.

Both Teams struggled to move the ball in the second half until Benson scored his 3rd touchdown of the day on a screen pass from QB Josh Cranford #15. The score sealed the win for the Stampede over the Charlotte Colonials 24-0. Lifting the Stampede to a record of 2 and 1 in league play and dropping the Colonials to 0-4.

Notable States:

McCullough – 5 carries for 108 yards, Long of 71 yards 1 TD.

Benson – 2 catches for 25 yards, 2 TD receptions

Benson- 2 punt returns for 113 yards and a 65-yard TD return.

Defense led by captain LB James Foster Jr. had an outstanding game holding the Colonials offense in check for the entire game. The defense accounted for 8 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.
Devon Grant- 6 solo tackles, 1 PBU

Foster Jr.- 4 Solo tackles, 2 Sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR

Stewart- 1 tackle, 1 sack.

Williams- 3 tackles, 1 Int

The Stampede will be in Rochester on June 15th to face the #2 ranked team in the GDFL The Upstate Predators. The Stampede hope to continue their strong defensive performance against a powerful Predators team led QB Billy Joiner.
