“From Underdogs to Contenders: Memphis Gators Join the GDFL Spring Season”
Memphis, TN – The Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) is proud to announce that the Memphis Gators will officially join the league’s Spring Season beginning in 2026.
Founded by Owner Mark Jones Jr. in 2023, the Gators quickly built a reputation as a resilient program. After early growing pains with a 4–6 record in 2023 and a 1–7 finish in 2024, the Gators roared back in 2025, posting an impressive 9–1 record and advancing all the way to the NLFA Conference Championship Game. There, they came just one win shy of the title, falling to the reigning champions, the Mississippi Road Warriors (22–12)—who have also now joined the GDFL.
The addition of the Memphis Gators further solidifies the GDFL’s Spring Season, expanding competitive opportunities for franchises across the region.
“To have this kind of growth before the 2025 season even ends shows us we’re doing things the right way,” said COO Tracey-Hardney-Scott. “We’ve received tremendous interest for both our spring and summer sessions, and we are excited about what the 2026 season will bring.”
The GDFL proudly welcomes the Memphis Gators to the league family and looks forward to their continued success as they represent Memphis on the national stage.
Welcome to the GDFL, Memphis Gators — where the hunt for greatness never stops.
