Express Shut Down Huskies
Erie,PA-Erie Express move to 1-0 in GDFL league play after Saturday’s night 42-0 victory over the Howard Huskies in Cleveland.
Despite a constant rainfall all game and the Express were able to go into Cleveland,Ohio and fight through the elements to secure the victory.
The Express scored the first touchdown on a 2 yard run by Shannon Jackson with Brandon Hanna connecting with Bud Brown for the 2 point conversion to make it 8-0 (11:58 1st). On our next possession Hanna connected with Corey McWilliams on a 24 yard TD strike with Shannon Jackson running in the two point try to make the score 16-0 Express (7:37 1st). The first quarter would end with the Express leading 16-0.
With less than 2 minutes remaining in the half Hanna found De'Airus Goodwine on a 7 yard TD pass. The 2 point try was no good and the Express led 22-0 at the half.
The Express received the second half kickoff and drove right down the field when Hanna again found McWilliams for a 15 yard TD pass. Hanna found McWilliams on the 2 point try as well and the Express led 30-0 (10:38 3rd). On the ensuing kickoff the Huskies were not able to field the ball and LB Denzel Jones was able to recover the ball putting the Express in great position. Shannon Jackson scored his second TD from 4 yards out with the 2 point try being no good to make the score 36-0 Express (4:14 3rd) The third quarter ended with Erie leading 36-0.
The only score in the 4th quarter came at the 9:17 mark when Shannon Jackson scored his third TD of the game on an 8yd run. The 2 point attempt was no good giving us the final score of 42-0.
The defense pitched shutout with Darrell Fincher adding an INT, Charlie Hamilton a sack and Denzel Jones a fumble recovery.

The Express will be home May 11th to face the Western New York Mustangs. Kickoff is set for 5pm at Mercyhurst University. Admission is $5 at the gate with children 12 and under FREE. Intros start at 4:40 SHARP so get there early. See you then. GO EXPRESS!
