Express and Fire looking to get back to winning ways
Columbus,OH-This Saturday the Erie Express travel to Columbus, Ohio to face the Fire in a rematch of last years Xtreme Conference Championship. Gone are the undefeated records and #1 and 2 rankings. What remains are still two of the top teams in the country facing off in an early season matchup.
The Fire traveled to Cleveland, Ohio and suffered a 30-24 loss to the Rams in their season opener. The Fire finished last season with the #1 ranked defense in the GDFL and an 11-1 record. Their only loss was to the Erie Express in the Xtreme Conference Championship Game (30-6). They will look to get back on the winning track and will surely be fully staffed for this one.
The Erie Express come into the game at 1-1 on the GDFL season. Erie traveled to Baltimore last week and lost 18-14. This was the first loss by the Express since the 2019 Xtreme Conference Championship game. Erie should have the bulk of their roster available for this weeks matchup and they will need it as wins are hard if not impossible to come by in Columbus.
Kickoff is set for 6pm at Central Intermediate Middle School's "Craig Field" located at 6507 Summit Rd. Pataskala, Ohio 43062. Admission is $10 with children 10 and under admitted FREE!
