Everett Royals Looking To Make Statement In GDFL

Everett, Washington-The Everett Royals begin the regular season of the Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL) this Saturday as they play the Tacoma Sabers at Mariner High School in Everett.  

The Royals have won back-to-back exhibition games against the East Anchorage Chargers and the Spokane Wolfpack.The Royals are hoping the momentum can carry over into the regular season.

“The GDFL represented an opportunity for our team and other Washington teams to give a bigger platform for players in our region” team owner Mike Thomas said about the decision to join the GDFL.  

Players to Watch:

QB-Jaden Sheffey- Sheffey threw and ran for a touchdown in his last start and will be looking to take advantage of his big and quick receivers.  

WR- Phillip Nonnast- In his first season playing football, Nonnast has turned into a strong possession receiver.  

G- Anthony Admundsen- One of the biggest and strongest players on the team, Amundsen is an anchor on the offensive line and is a key component in the Royals developing a strong running game

DE- Marcus Bagnerise- Bagnerise is one of the leaders on defense and its hard to match his energy and aggressiveness.  Bagnerise’ ability to get to the quarterback quickly will play a key role this weekend.

LB- Lorenzo Haynes- A football veteran who can play any position on the field, Haynes has speed and power.  Haynes is a ball hawk on defense and a natural leader.

K- Wyatt Paul- In the Royals last home game, Paul made three field goals, including the game winner in overtime.  Paul has the ability to make field goals beyond the 50-yard mark which will give the Royals additional point scoring opportunities.

The Royals defense that has forced 10 turnovers in the past two games and held their opponents to 32 points.

The GDFL was established in 2010 and is made up of teams around the United States. The GDFL is focused on player development and helping athletes move to higher levels of football.

Everett Royals vs Tacoma Sabers May 28th, 2022 4pm Kickoff at Mariner High School in Everett.  Tickets are $7 for adults and free for children under the age of 12.
