Erie Express run past Wolves

Erie,PA-Erie Express move to 2-1 on the season and finished off their pre-season schedule with a 30-6 victory over the Westmoreland Wolves. At 9:50 of the first quarter running back Shannon Jackson found the end zone from three yards out to open the scoring. The two point try was no good and Erie led 6-0. Quarterback Brandon Hanna ran it in from 1 yard out then found Corey McWilliams in the end zone for the two point try to make the score Express 14 Wolves 0 with 1:08 remaining in the first.

Hanna again found the end zone from one yard out and the two point try failed to put Erie up 20-0. On the ensuing possession a swarm of Express defenders tackled the Wolves ball carrier in the end zone for a safety to put Erie up 22-0. Hanna found the end zone for his third rushing TD of the game with Shannon Jackson adding the two point conversion to make the score Express 30 Wolves 0 with 1:44 to play in the half.

The score was 30-0 at the half and both teams struggled to move the ball the entire second half. The third quarter ended with the same score. The Wolves got onto the scoreboard with 7:24 to play in the game on a 20 yard pass play. The two point conversion was no good and this ended the scoring with Erie winning 30-6.

Defensively Charlie Hamilton, Jeff Biggie, Glen Conner, Jeremy Burroughs and Mike Witt all recorded sacks with Glen Conner recording the only interception of the game.

Erie opens GDFL play on May 4th as we travel to Cleveland, OH to face the Howard Huskies in week one of the GDFL season. Game info will be posted closer to the date. GO EXPRESS!
