Outlaws take down the Ohio Phoenix

by GDFL MEDIA

Vermilion, OH-The Ohio Outlaws came into their third game of the season ready to showcase their talent against a feisty but young Ohio Phoenix team. On the very first play of the game Deon Carter threw a 65 yard bomb to Caleb Samol for a touchdown that Caleb mossed the receiver to make the grab. After that it was all gas and no breaks for the Outlaws. On the very next drive Carter connected on a Touchdown pass again but this time with Antonio Boyd. Closing out the first half Dontez Smith ran into the endzone for six and looked dominant all day long. The second half was more of the same with Caleb catching yet another touchdown pass as he finished with 2 touchdowns on 2 catches and 74 yards receiving on the day.

The MVP of the game was most definitely Deon Carter as he capped his performance with a rushing touchdown and 2 point conversion which gave him 3 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown on the day.  The Outlaw offense was definitely there to make noise but not to be out done, the defense had some noise to make of their own as well. The outlaw Defense is currently tied for first place in the entire league with 0 points given up and they showed just how dominant they are once again against the Phoenix. Through 4 quarters of play the Ohio Outlaws only gave up 3 first downs to the Phoenix offense and two of them came off of penalties.

The defense was lead in the secondary by Chris Frazier who followed up his 2 interception and one fumble recovery game against the Ohio Gladiators with a 5 tackle 1 pass break up performance on Saturday.  Not to be outdone, Cortez Robinson was a man among children it seemed with his 3 tackles for loss, 1 sack & four quarterback pressures. It is safe to say that this Defense is the strong point of the team and the answer for them as they pursue a championship.  It is safe to say the this Ohio Outlaw team doesn't look like your average first year organization as they have come to make a name for themselves quickly this season.

"Head Coach Gordon Tillman has them clicking on all cylinders and improving week by week. I couldn't be more impressed with the dedication these players have shown and he brotherhood they have been able to build in such a short time" Owner Markus Younkin stated. "This is the type of recipe that has the ability to breed long term success and that is just what we intend to do." Younkin concluded. The Outlaws are now 3-0 and are in first place of their division going into the July 10th match-up against their division rival Cleveland Rams. That game will decide who takes over first place for the foreseeable future. Look out GDFL. The Outlaws are coming.
