Cyclones Blow by Thoroughbreds

Washington,MO —  Zeke Scott completed 12 of 24 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns and backup QB BJ Buckner rushed for another score to lead fifth-ranked Missouri Cyclones to a 37-0 home opening victory over Western Kentucky Thoroughbreds Saturday (May.20 2017) in front of their home crowd at O'Fallon Christian Stadium.

The Cyclones defense limited the Thoroughbreds to 80 net rushing yards in the contest and 140 total yards in the game.

Max Brinkman booted 1 field goal in the game for the Cyclones, a 30 yarder on the opening drive of the game.

Brennan Keys scored on a 25-yard Touchdown reception to give  Cyclones a 10-0 lead midway through the first quarter. Scott added a 10-yard touchdown pass to BJ Buckner,to push the Cyclones' margin to 24-0 with 12:15 remaining in the third quarter. Antwuan Williams added a ten-yard scoring run at the 2:47 mark of the second quarter as well.

 BJ Buckner caught two passes for a game-high 47 yards in the first half. He added 1 rush for 10 yards which resulted in a Touchdown.

Andre Tolen also found the end zone for the Cyclones, scoring on a twenty-yard run with 5:36 remaining in the fourth quarter and pushing the Missouri margin to 37-0.

Western Kentucky Thoroughbreds, which did not pick up a first down until its fourth possession of the game early in the second quarter, flirted with crossing the fifty twice but came up empty. The Cyclones held the Thoroughbreds on downs at the Cyclones 40 as time expired in the first half. Western Kentucky also drove to their 45, but Quinn Spight intercepted a Arron Allen pass to thwart that drive.

The Cyclones intercepted a pair of passes and forced three fumbles in the game.

Devi Greer had a team high with 7 tackles to lead the Cyclone defense. Jeff Kolkmeir added four tackles, 0.5 TFL, an interception, fumble recovery and a pass break-up.

The Cyclones will return to action Saturday (June.3rd) when they travel to Nashville,TN.,to face GDFL rival Nashville Storm at 7 p.m. The May 20th Nashville Storm vs St.Louis Bulldogs  game will be reschedule due to inclement ,weather (TBA) in their season opener.
