Cobras Doomed by Turnovers

by GDFL MEDIA

Cleveland,OH-There was great hype for the Cleveland Cobras vs Northeast Ohio Silverbacks and particularly John Kendeares entering this game. Despite having one loss coming into the contest, the Cobras was six-point favorites. The Cobras were a projected as an Xtreme North sleeper pick in preseason but lost that luster after division foe Erie Express handed them a devastating loss. But on this night all signs predicted that the home team would prevail. But we know predictions are not always what they seem.

Kendeares finished 30- of -60 passes for 432 yards and a pair of touchdowns but also threw 4 critical interceptions 3 of which where pick 6's essentially giving the Silverbacks 21 points.

Cobras’s Dee Lawson lead all receivers with season high 214 yards and a touchdown.Teammate Odell Spencer added 10 catches for 143 yards he also had a touchdown

On top of the Cobra Interception issues their running game was no where to be found 10 rushes for only 9 yards for the game. The Siverbacks sold out against the run, coaxing the Cobras to beat them downfield. Neither Jackson Jones (4-11) nor Brandon Davis (2-5) found much running room, with the Cobras fumbling away an 80 yard kick-off  return in the game which made matters even worse.

Head Coach Jerry Minissale said,”Even tho our young QB threw for 432 yards, and 4 interceptions...3 for pick 6 that was the difference in the game. The positive is we can build on this and work on making better decisions.”

Meanwhile The Northeast Ohio Silverbacks, Bo Beagle finished 15-of-22 for 304 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions. He was precise throughout the game. Had the Silverbacks kept up their passing attack, and been more aggressive in the passing game he would've posted a monstrous statistical game.  Bo threw a beautiful 68-yard touchdown strike to Shai Pledge, putting perfect placement on the ball. As the North East Ohio Silverback put away the Cleveland Cobras. 38 to 14 Final

Silverbacks Head Coach Charles Portman quoted "The cobras are a good young team with some talent and with the right pieces can be a force in the future."
