Clarksville Rattlers Join GDFL

Clarksville,Tenn-The Clarksville Rattlers jumped from the TFA spring league to the GDFL for the 2020 season and beyond. The Rattlers will join a very talented class of new Gridiron Developmental Football League (GDFL ) member teams that has established itself as one of best in the nation.  

The state of Tennessee, has long been a hotbed for college and pro football, and has had a presence in the GDFL since the league’s inception.

The Gridiron Development Football League (GDFL) on Tuesday evening announced the addition of the Clarksville Rattlers, of Clarksville,Tennessee making them the eighth new member franchise to be announced within the last 2 months, the 3rd within the last 48 hours for the upcoming 2020 season.

Team Owner Bo Townsend is the former Running backs coach for the 2004 SSFL champions St. Petersburg Sharks. Former Head coach of the Clarksville Wolfpack, former Head coach of the 2 time Division champion Tri-City Outlaws,and now Owner/Head coach of the Clarksville Rattlers since 2015. 

The Clarksville Rattlers have competed in the TFA and the MTFL over last few seasons and have decided to step up to the GDFL. Bo Townsend explains, "I know we can compete with anyone at any given time. I want to expose my brand in the best league in the country. My plan is to develop the most Disciplined, Determined and Dedicated organization in this league. We want to compete at a higher level and perform at the highest level".

The GDFL would like to welcome the Clarksville Rattlers and wish them much success as we continue to move towards the future and build a brand that will undoubtedly be the blueprint for others to follow.  

The GDFL is entering it’s eleventh season in 2020. The league is spread over the country from Pennsylvania to Colorado and down to Florida. The GDFL is a developmental league, providing a platform for athletes who look to get opportunities from the NFL and CFL (Canadian Football League). The most prominent GDFL star who made it to the next level is Devin Breaux, defensive back for the New Orleans Saints.
