Blue Devils take Down Colonials in a Defensive Battle

Buffalo, New York - The 1st year East Coast Blue Devils developmental football team didn't play their cleanest game in their 2024 season opener, but found a way to topple a pesky Charlotte Colonials team, 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Devils (1-0) were lifted to victory by a 8 yard second quarter touchdown to beat the Colonials (0-2) for the first of 2 meetings this season. 

Saturday's showdown in Buffalo started with a bang. The Colonials fumbled the ball on their first possession after Blue Devil’s botched the punt on 4th down deep inside their own territory. The Colonials would take over on the Blue Devils 28 yard line but would be unsuccessful and with great field position would be unable to do much with the game's opening possession.Charlotte would attempt a 36 yard field goal however, the Blue Devils blocked the field goal attempt and took over on downs at their own 47 yard line.

East Coast Blue Devils second drive of the game was a quick one as well, as Colonial forced a three-and-out.

The teams would exchange a series of punts before the Blue Devils found the game's first real scoring chance.

Ka’el Ceasar #3 (Buffalo,New York / LB) would recover fumble a RB #36 Da’Jae Perry would score on the next Blue Devils drive on 8 yard scamper for a Touchdown two conversion failed. Blue Devils 6- 0

The Colonial offense simply couldn't keep things moving, and would continue to punt the ball back to the Blue Devils for the remainder of the half.

The Blue Devils would play a bend-but don't-break defense and put up a tremendous effort with their backs up against their own goal line #21 Free Safety Vincent Shelton ( Erie Community College )intercepted the Colonial’s QB and would return it 25 yards to end the first half.

Finally, after four quarters of frustration, Charlotte Colonials offense would never find their rhythm. Blue Devils Angel Carson #23 OLB game sealing interception was returned 12 yards running out the clock and  ending the game. Which was a defensive war!
