Beep,Beep Arizona RoadRunners Speed past Spokane Wolfpack 32-0
Spokane, Washington-The Arizona Roadrunners grabbed another victory! This week was the longest road trip for the Roadrunners and the last away game of the regular season. The team traveled over 21 hours to play the Spokane Wolfpack and came home with a well-deserved win.
Head Coach Ricky Herrera said, “We had guys that had to step up last minute and learn a position that they have never played. I helped them on the offensive line and they did a great job. At halftime, we made some adjustments and started playing Roadrunner football, fast pace on offense and in your face defense.”
Speaking of defense, there were five interceptions on the defense: Kirk Sparks-2, Cortez Norris-1, Darnell Coleman-1, and DeAndre Dickerson-1 who went back to the house for a Pick 6. All of the Roadrunners linebackers had 2 QB sacks including Roosevelt Ross, Kenneth Steele, and Diante Flowers.The grunts upfront also put up several sacks. Kyle Barnhart,Kevin Newell and Patrick Isbell all took 1 sack home with them.
Offensively, the Roadrunners started off quick with a pass to Leeon Bakersville for a 30 yard pass completion for the first touchdown of the game followed by a 2 point conversion by TE Ulysses Sorey. It wasn’t until late in the second quarter when Dre Dickerson scored on the interception to put the Roadrunners up by 12.
Quarterback Kordell (KP) Provchy had 4 passing touchdowns on the day and almost 100 yards again on the ground. Austin Williams, Jovon Scott, and Timmy Smith all caught the remaining touchdowns for the team helping cap off the 32-0 victory for the then #6 nationally ranked Roadrunners.
Defensive Coordinator Bengie Moore said after the game, “With players not being able to make the trip due to XFL tryouts in Tempe, family, or work.We had the (NEXT MAN UP ATTITUDE) this week and we showed up and showed OUT.”
