Rockets defense to much for Crush

by Gridiron Media

Huntsville, AL-On Saturday night, the match-up between the #1 Huntsville Rockets and the #2 Georgia Crush turned out to be a defensive battle both teams standing strong throughout most of the game.

The Rocket defense lead by #77 Keith Davis accounted for 11 ½ total sacks on the Crush quarterback. The Rockets jumped out to a 6-0 lead when #24 Larry Goode took the handoff around the right side, reversed field and scampered 52 yards to the end zone for the first points of the game. The extra point was no good.

Both defensive units stood strong for the remainder of the game as the offensive units failed to get into a rhythm. In the second half the Rocket defense accounted for two safety’s to put the Rockets up 10-0 with a little over a minute remaining in the game.

The Crush offense made a last second effort to score with 00:36 left to go in the contest. The 2-point try was no good and the Rockets hands team solidified a hard fought game recovering the onside kick.

The Rockets have their 4th victory of the season and hope to get back on track offensively against the stingy Middle Tennessee Bulldogs next week.

Both squads are undefeated and this top 5 matchup will surely deliver some excitement to the GDFL!
